The Gap
I’ve seen brilliant, kind, capable women doubt themselves, overgive to be valued, and prove their worth again and again – until there’s nothing left to give. I’ve seen women lead from fumes, running on purpose but disconnected from themselves.
And I remember that moment in my own journey when my body said “no more.”
When success no longer felt like safety. When I realized that strength without self-care is just endurance wearing lipstick.
There’s a gap between the image of the female leader and the inner reality of being one.
The “girl-boss, multitasking, day-saving super-woman” story can come with a hidden cost: exhaustion, anxiety, emotional suppression, and physical depletion that no one dares to speak about because it’s not “inspiring enough.”
So, beyond the promotions, titles, and achievements — how do you actually feel when you close your laptop at night? What lives in your body when you wake up and prepare for the day?
Because leadership that ignores your body isn’t sustainable leadership, it’s survival on repeat.
The Necessity
Leadership, as I see it now, is two-fold:
- the responsibility we carry for others and
- the accountability we hold for our own wellbeing.
If one collapses, the other cannot stand.
The culture of leadership must evolve from being performance-driven to being presence-driven.
That evolution doesn’t start in strategy decks or HR policies, it starts inside each of us.
We’ve been building careers next to each other for years, but we don’t really know each other’s stories. And maybe that’s the missing link, because only our stories could still transform us into a real community.
The Space
I think it is high time to create a safe community space, as simple as radical.
To share. To brainstorm. To witness. To listen.
To bring forward the real anatomy of female leadership today, not the glossy version, but the living one.
Where we could ask:
- What are we proud to pass on?
- What must end with us? (The dysfunction disguised as ambition, the trap wrapped in the dream of achievement)
It’s not just about breaking ceilings anymore, it’s about healing the structures inside us that made those ceilings necessary in the first place.
In simple terms:
- What would you be proud for your daughter to inherit from your way of leading?
- What challenges are worth keeping, because they forge her courage?
- Which challenges only drain the essence out of her authenticity?
These are not rhetorical questions, they are invitations to reflection, to honesty, to change.
How can we support each other on this path? How can we build spaces that nourish creation instead of extraction? And from which wisdom keepers, old and new, can we learn how to lead in ways that feel human again?
If you’ve ever dreamed of a space where female leaders drop the mask, bring their realness, and co-create something truer, this could be your space.
Let us build it together!
