What makes a Conscious Leader?

In the 21st century, the knowledge of humanity is growing with enormous speed. On average, every minute a new chemical formula is developed, every three minutes a new physical correlation is discovered and every five minutes a new medical insight is gained. It has become almost impossible for leaders to have all solutions at hand. In consequence, their actions are often based on limited knowledge.

Despite increasing uncertainty, conscious leaders are able to master complex challenges by remaining open for perspectives and ideas of others. By accessing the collective intelligence of their organisation, they achieve their goals through co-creation.

In this extremely linked and interdependent environment, conscious leaders work with an integral mind-set and behaviour. They have realised, that they are part of the system and cannot lead isolated from outside.

Conscious leaders reflect regularly whether they are acting from protection or growth mode. They have learned to activate the growth mode and regard emotions as a source of valuable information and not as a distraction. They work with emotions, instead of working against them. Conscious leaders do not have to react, they are able to act, even when under pressure, because they create space for reflection and take conscious decisions.

Conscious leaders apply a people-centred leadership style, because they know that employees, who feel appreciated, develop an emotional bond with the leader and the organisation. This bond is a pre-requisite for a high level of employee engagement, an increased ability to innovate and collective sustainable success.

During their personal growth process, conscious leaders discover more and more who they really are, instead of who they think they should be. They become a living example of the transformation, they want to facilitate in their people.

Conscious leaders have stopped to become the best in the world. They have started to be the best for the world.
